Once you Ads account is live, you'll probably get a few automated emails from Google about your account. Most of them are completely normal. Here's a quick guide so you know what's worth a second look and what you can just ignore.
If you have an ads retainer with us, we're already watching for these and adjusting the account. If you don’t currently and are interested in someone maintaining your account moving forward, let us know and we’re happy to talk more about how we can help.
Safe to ignore
"Take action to fix your setup" / untagged landing pages.
Google thinks your conversion tracking isn't set up because it's looking for a specific tag we don't use. We track conversions through Google Analytics 4 instead, so this one's a false alarm.
"You have unused budget" / "Your daily budget is limiting your ads."
This is common in new accounts. Google ramps up spending slowly while it learns which keywords and audiences work best for you, so this typically improves over the first few months.
"New recommendations are available" / Optimization Score notices.
This is Google's automated suggestion engine, not a compliance issue. We review these and apply the ones that make sense for your account and your Grant status.
Responsive search ad or asset coverage suggestions (like "add more headlines" or "add sitelinks").
These are best-practice nudges, not requirements. If we built your campaigns, they already meet the Grant minimums.
Worth paying attention to
"Your click-through rate is below 5%."
Ad Grant accounts need to keep a 5% click-through rate each month. One low month is a heads-up, two months in a row is what actually risks deactivation.
"Your Quality Score has dropped."
Grant policy requires pausing or removing any keyword with a Quality Score of 1 or 2. This is a rare alert.
"Your account may not be spending due to policy issues."
This can point to a keyword, ad, or landing page that doesn't comply with Ad Grant policy.
